Momento Mori | All Soul's Day - Clay + Stone + Stillness
Availability: | In stock |
These somber scents of clay, stone, and stillness are inspired by the feast of All Souls' Day, observed on November 2.
Behind the Inspiration
"Memento mori" is Latin for "Remember death," sometimes also translated as "Remember you will die." This is a solemn reminder that one day we will stand in judgment for what we did and who we became. The scents of clay, stone, and stillness call to mind our burial and our waiting for Christ's return to raise the living and the dead.
Memento Mori is also a joyful reminder of the promise of the life to come: "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life" (Jn 3:16).
And finally, it is motivating, because keeping death before our eyes helps us strive to live a full and virtuous life while we can.
