In great ecstasies, notably during the Mass or at the mention of Christ, St. Joseph apparently would be awakened to the supernatural and soar through the air in reverent posture. As a testament to his whole life, St. Joseph of Cupertino is regarded today as the patron Saint of aviators, astronauts, students, and the mentally handicapped.
